Literature Text

Even to a stranger on the street, anyone could tell you took after your dad. You had inherited just about everything from him in the looks department. And according to all the adults around you, you inherited a lot in the personality department, too. But you refuse to believe that you got his impulsive and rash behavior.

Now at the age of thirteen, you attended Namimori Middle just like your dad and his friends did. Although a lot of girls envied you for your beautiful combination of silver hair and olive green eyes, and lot of them felt better about themselves when they learned how weird you were. They probably thought that you would steal all the cute boys, but your strange personality was a major turn-off. You only had a close group of friends and you weren't majorly popular, but just about anyone could identify your screams or your rants or the explosions you caused. Apparently, you father was known for doing the same thing except it made everyone like him more. You didn't really care if everyone thought you were weird, though. The only person you cared about was [Last Name] [Boy's Name], the cutest boy in your class. You tried a lot of ways to get his attention so it was no secret that you and every other girl in the school liked him, but he always laughed and turned you down. But you were Gokudera [Name] and what you wanted, you tried to get, just like your dad, apparently. Your friends always tried to convince you that [Boy's Name] was a jerk, but you wouldn't have any of it. To you, he was perfect.

Your class was currently playing baseball for gym, a sport that your dad openly expressed his hate for since he called it "the sport of idiots". But you would try your best, nonetheless. Well, your best when you were holding back. Since the time you were young, your dad had trained you to be the best Right Hand (wo)man for the 11th Generation Vongola Boss. So needless to say that you're very strong. But your Uncle Tsuna always warned you about showing off all your strength since it wasn't normal for a teenage girl to be so strong. Showing off would lead to trouble, whether it be socially or attracting the attention of a mafioso.

[Boy's Name] was up to bat while your team was out in the field. The ball soared through the air and landed near you. You went to pick it up but got caught in the moment. With all the cheering and yelling, you went "into the zone" and used your training to hone in on [Boy's Name] and throw the ball with all your strength.[1] The ball hit [Boy's Name] right in the abdomen with a loud 'thump'. Soon, your whole class was running to his side.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to throw the ball that hard, honest!" You tried explaining yourself, but it was lost in the sea of chaos. Everyone was asking questions and shouting but you tried putting your hand on [Boy's Name]'s forearm as a means of comforting him, but he jerked away.

"Don't touch me you freak! You might break some more bones!"

Everyone's eyes landed on you and you could see the disgust and hate on their faces. Panicked, you ran away.

You found a secluded and lonely spot near the back of the school. With your back to the school, you squatted and brought your knees to your forehead to create a ball. You began sobbing uncontrollably for an uncertain amount of time. You didn't care if any Disciplinary Committee members found you, for you were not in the mood to deal with them and would therefore simply beat them up. You continued sobbing until you heard footsteps coming near you. Your crying ceased as you held your breath and hoped that whoever it was would go in the other direction and leave. However, you wish went unheard since right before you stood your dad.

He crouched down before you and took out his handkerchief to wipe your tears, "The school called and told me what happened, and that you haven't come back to class after half and hour. It's okay now, the kid only has a few cracked ribs, nothing that will kill him. We can go home now, if you want."

But you didn't, you didn't know what you wanted. You knew you didn't want to go back and face your classmates but you also didn't want to be weak and go home. So, not knowing what to do, you simply began to talk like you always did, "I really liked him..."

Your dad stopped crouching and opted to sit down next to you in the dirt. He sighed and cleared his throat, a sign that he was about to lecture you, "Someday, not any day soon if I have anything to say about it, but one day, you'll find someone. Someone who's not like that crappy little boy. When I was in middle school, all I had was the Tenth. Before him, I never really had a true friend. I was nasty and mean and I pushed everyone away from me. But the Tenth still stood by me and accepted my faults and I accepted his. [2] Before I knew it, I was surrounded by a bunch of idiots. But we faced challenge after challenge, defending the great Vongola name. One day, you'll find people like those. Ones whose faults you know and accept and vise versa."

He lit a cigarette before continuing, "Your mom was like me, a bit of an outcast when he met in high school. When I met her, she didn't know what it was like to be unconditionally accepted by people, but we showed her the way, mostly me. Then, we graduated became successful, got married then had you. So don't go rushing things, everything will fall into place if you let it. Before you can have true love, you should have true friendship first. And next time someone says something nasty to you, hit them. They gotta have some kind of nerve to talk to you like that."

The two of you sat in silence while you soaked up his words. He rubbed your back while you still hiccuped from your tears just like he had when you were little. Taking his words to heart, you decided to concentrate on your friends that had warned you about [Boy's Name] rather than boys. You balled your hands into fists and wiped away all the stray tears. And so you went back to class with your smiling father to see you off.

After changing back into your uniform (remember you were wearing gym clothes) you went back to class. You took your seat quietly but you could feel all the stares and glares you were receiving. But you looked slightly behind you to see one of your friends send you a reassuring smile. You returned the smile and then turned around the concentrate on the lesson.

At lunch, you were going to go to the roof to eat with your friends when a group of girls surrounded your desk; you recognized them as [Boy's Name]'s fan base.

One of them had the nerve to slam her hands on your desk and start shouting, "If you're wondering where [Boy's Name]-kun is, he's at the hospital since you so brutally injured him!"

Another girl to your right also chimed in her annoying voice, "You'd better think of some way to make this up to him, [Name]! Like take over his cleaning duties or something!"

Soon all the girls joined in a loud chorus of demands. They were all closing in on you and you were starting to get annoying at the lack of personal space you had.

'And next time someone says something nasty to you, hit them. They gotta have some kind of nerve to talk to you like that.'

Your hands balled up into fists again and you clocked the girl whose hands were on your desk right in the face. The girls all shrieked, which annoyed you more, so you simply beat them all up to shut them up. Pretty soon, there were unconscious girls circling your desk.

However, you were sent down to the principal and you were about to be suspended, but a certain Cambion of Nami Middle [3] came and saved your sorry butt. But a good thing did come from all of this. A red armband with "Discipline' embroidered on it was bestowed upon you and from then on, you were allowed to beat up whoever you pleased with no punishment.
So I realized that I never did the stereotypical girl problem: boys!

[1]  I know pegging is not allowed in most school baseball games, or in regular baseball if I'm correct. I don't really know much about baseball but for the sake of the story, let's just say it's allowed.

[2] This is somewhat of a spoiler of the manga, but not really. I know a lot of people think Gokudera's loyalty to Tsuna is something really funny, and it is sometimes, but in his battle with Shitt. P, Gokudera admits that he knows Tsuna is not perfect but says that he accepts Tsuna for his faults just as the he does for Gokudera.

[3] A reference to Hibari's daughter in another one of my stories
